Hailing from Sydney, THE STRIDES have become a new force for afro & roots music. Fronted by Reggae Master Ras Roni from Barbados via London, and Fijian MC Ltl Gzeus, The Strides have delivered their classic sound to crowds across the country, delivering a musical experience that is as powerfully explosive as it is authentic.

With a calling card of powerfully melodic horns, infectious bass lines, easy musings and a magnetic stage presence between its two lead vocalists, the Strides are a 9-piece collective of multitalented songwriters and musicians.

The Strides' music faithfully builds on the foundations of classic roots reggae with a hip-hop edge, forging a sound that brings together modern dance hall, AFRO-BEAT and reggae-pop. The Strides have forged a truly global sound, melding a diversity of cultures and instrumentation under the one universal consciousness.

With two acclaimed albums already under their belt, a European label signing as well as festival appearances across the country, The Strides have graced the stage with the likes of Julian Marley, Tony Allen and Groundation.

In partnership with Vivid Music, 107’s Rooftop Garden is your destination for a hidden local adventure, an entrée to Sydney’s independent music culture with six nights of experimental sound, electronica and beats curated by the NOW now, Pretty Gritty, Ears Have Ears, Electrofringe, Bare Necessities and Sydney Now’s For Folk Sake. Expect the unexpected and close encounters with artists in a raw and intimate setting.

Stepping into 107 is a bit like stepping inside the creative mind. Experiments happen and shit gets weird - but ultimately great work emergers from a rich, creative culture.

The Swamp Fat Jangles sound emanates from the bayou in a secret swamp near Sydney's South West. Their tales are performed in a raw alt-folk sound, with poetic harmonising female vocals atop the rhythms of banjo, guitar, bass and drums accompanied by bendy blues harp and trumpet.​

Swamp Fat Jangles have enchanted audiences across the east coast with their distinctive brand of seductive electric folk, playing on stages such as the Vanguard & Venue 505 and festivals like Peats Ridge and Newtown Festival.

Nic Cassey & Friends create sadly beautiful portraits of love and life on the margins with the moody depth of Nick Drake and the country-influenced textures of Andrew Bird.

Brian Campeau is a Sydney musician known for his stylistic boundary pushing. Blending acoustic music with electronic sounds, odd time signatures and left-field arrangements, Brian has never been easy to describe in single-word terms. He is fine with that.

Filmmaker and projection designer, Samuel’s work involves animation and light drawing to expose the subconscious of natural and urban environments and objects.

Amanda’s work explores the microtonal, fusing electronic and acoustic timbres, manifesting as both compositions and installations.

Melanie creates multi-speaker performance installations exploring the nature of co-existing sound worlds.

Originally a techno producer in the early '00s, much of Alex’s music can be heard as an extension of techno into an abstracted form.

Using home-made software patches that algorithmically mangle his guitar, voice and other sources, Reuben creates lonely pop and glitchy, psychedelic soundscapes.
