Vendel & Wolf

Artists Paul Vendel and Sandra de Wolf met during their studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and have been working together ever since as Vendel & Wolf. Their work is often takes the form of large-scale public installations that are site-specific. As a duo, they prefer to use recognisable and existing objects or materials and first brought their work Fluxit to Vivid in 2023.

Can technology correct human error, or are imperfections inevitable—whether human or machine-made? This thought-provoking question take centre stage in Error, inviting us to contemplate the unpredictable nature of imperfection and what this might mean in the context of Artificial Intelligence.

A massive, swirling and illuminated disc appears to hover, its surface pulsing with random bursts of light. This trance-like display mirrors the chaos of both the universe and technology, where glitches—like dreams—are unpredictable and chaotic but also hold the potential for creativity, change and new discoveries.

Error reminds us that to err is human, but perhaps those very errors open the door to divine possibility.
