Irish singer/songwriter Lisa Hannigan is renowned for moving audiences with her sultry vocals and multi-instrumentalism. This Vivid LIVE, Hannigan will dazzle crowds in the intimate Drama Theatre for one night only.
Following earlier collaborations with Damien Rice, Hannigan has proven to be one of the most transfixing artists in modern folk with her blend of raw emotion and enthralling guitar. Her affecting latest album At Swim, produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner with contributions from Thomas Bartett and André de Ridder, reached new levels of eloquence - with unadorned vocals stroking through each song with minimal backing and ghostly harmonies.
Hannigan shone on the Concert Hall stage with Glen Hansard (2013) and stole the show in the Nick Drake celebration Way to Blue (2011). Hannigan will sing from At Swim alongside songs from her Mercury Prize-nominated debut Sea Sew and its acclaimed follow-up Passenger, making her Vivid LIVE performance and Sydney Opera House headline debut the latest in her collection of crowning achievements.
“Recalling both Enya and Norah Jones but gutsier than both, Lisa Hannigan’s music is a welcome hark back to more traditional folk music” – The Up Coming
