Get ready to dance as London based DJ and producer Esa Williams brings the party with his Afro Synth Band. He's enlisting two vocal titans, too: South African '80s funk king Kamazu and Zanzibar via London afrobeat mainstay Mim Suleiman.
Celebrated in his own right as a DJ, Esa Williams' latest project is a collective of uber-talented musicians reviving South Africa's apartheid-era dance music. Consisting of artists Chisara, Ami Koda, Alexander Burke (aka Forest Law) and Esa, the group is performing with Kamazu as their current frontman – the still-strong funk musician behind ‘80s hit 'Korobela'.
And for this special night, Esa's also bringing along party starter Mim Suleiman from London. Whether singing in English, her native Swahili or a number of other languages, Mim is a charismatic live performer with powerhouse vocals, blending Taarab vibes with dub, jazz, soul and funk.
Also joining the fray are the crème of Australian afrobeat live and DJ talent, including DJ Pluggy, DJ Trey, Kwame Anthem, DJ K-Time and Osayo, hand-picked by Sounds of Afrobeats.
