DJ Kate Monroe "The First Lady of House"

Kate Monroe has been dubbed the “First Lady of House” and has been of one of Australia’s preeminent house DJs, ruling dance floors in Australia and overseas for over two decades. Her passion for house music especially the vocal and the deep is legendary and her sets across every major club in Australia have made her an icon of the Australian House scene.

Kate Monroe’s name has been synonymous with big parties in Australia – Mardi Gras, Sleaze Ball, Field day, Park Life and Harbour Party, not to mention offshore gigs in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Kuala Lumpur and the US.

Kate has released three full length mixes on her own Mat Recordings label, Mat Black, Mat White and Mat Clear all of which featured the very best selections of underground house for the time as well as compilations for Sony, and Universal.

Kate’s newest project, SOUND VISION by Kate Monroe, is a boutique music service that provides consultation on music within a venue to reinforce and optimize the atmosphere, reinforce the brand and drive the vibe of the venue.  Kate currently advises for some of Sydney’s leading venue’s including The Chiswick, Charing Cross Hotel, Swanson Hotel and Greenwood Hotel. She is spending the balance of her time in the studio writing music with an eye to releasing her first solo tracks later this year.

Kate’s personality and professionalism ensure that she is entrusted with some of the biggest celebrations in Australian history, including the Sydney Olympics Closing Ceremony in front of 60,000 people.

Kate has been handed the reins of the Lord Mayor’s New Year’s Eve Party at Sydney Opera House for 10 years designing the musical soundscape that brings Sydney into the New Year.  Kate has filled floors at some of the Country’s coolest corporate gigs for clients such as Cartier, MAC, Sephora, Accor Hotels, Estee Lauder, L’Oreal, David Jones, and Harley Davidson.  Kate is the go-to DJ for the Australian Film Industry (AFI) and Australian Academy Cinema Television Arts (AACTA) awards nights.

Wherever she lands, Kate is famous for turning up the vibe and transforming an ordinary room into an unforgettable space.
