Pies in the sky is a rooftop music, food and wine event series set on three different CBD rooftops, a showcase of culture in a context very rarely explored in the city. From deep wonky jazz, beats, rare boogie, eclectic house and disco, to Sydneys best chefs creating menus carefully matched to our wines. A gem in the 2017 Vivid Sydney calendar, Pies in the Sky is a rule bending concept that will see our involvement in the festival literally pushed to new heights.

Rooftop 1 - World Records

A monthly Cake Wines event held at the Cellar Door, it is a delight to bring World Records to rooftop 1 as part of Pies in the Sky. An exploration of global sounds, world-music rhythms, and soul based tangents often overlooked in the city. Alongside residents Mike Who, Tom Studdy and Glen Cassidy, this rooftop will Sound Signature don Geology, Melbourne beat kings 30/70 showcasing joints from their new album dropping in May. Young Guns Freda & Jackson rounding off the live element to what will be a diverse journey of sound.

On food Glebe mediteranean heavy weights, Thievery, will be serving up their signature Lebanese street food, creamy hummus, nutty, paprika-tinted melted butter, smoke-rich baba ganoush amongst smoked meats, vegetables...it's fireworks on the pallete to compliment our 2016 Adelaide Pinot Gris...bright crisp red apple, nashi-pear, lychee and cashew.

Rooftop 2 - Lovebombs

A staple in the Cake Wines yearly calendar since we started almost six years ago, Lovebombs is straight up party vibes exploring the deeper side of disco, boogie, funk, soul and house. Join Melbourne don, J’Nett, globe trotter Adi Toohey alongside the usual Lovebombs DJs ramping up the energy as the arvo progresses.

On the food, we’re making sure the superior selections stay true, we welcome Jovi and his joyous burger empire to the skies as Superior Burger rolls into town, sourcing direct from trusted farmers and hand-making each beef pattie day in and day out. Pasture fed, hormone and antibiotic free. Our Rosé will take centre stage on the wine front, light, smack bang in the middle of the sweet and dry spectrum, turkish delight, hints of strawberry sorbet. Perfect for a burger, boogie and beats.

Rooftop 3 - Jazz! Attack!

The newest Cake Wines music event, Jazz! Attack! is upfront, uptempo...a reset on jazz as you know it. We’re catapulting Jazz! Attack! to great heights as the third rooftop for Pies in the Sky featuring the incredible Swooping Duck (band behind the formidable Hiatus Kaiyote) join Krakatau, expect an exciting improvisational journey, a recreational "post-neo" trip across planet jazz that only they know how to deliver. Raw, 100% live, 100% exhiliarting. Finally, Preacha and Ed Lyons (End Notes) will step in to guide the day through some rare jazz cuts across a wide catalogue of selections.

On the food, we’re bringing in heavy weights, Three Blue Ducks, now a mini empire stretching from Bronte to Byron Bay, built on a simple ethos of cooking good, honest and original food, standby for full menu announce. Matched to our small batch natural Pinot Noir from our young winemaker series of wines, this rooftop will elevate your idea of an afternoon on the town.
