An Accidental Evening with The Starrs @ Camelot Lounge
Caught up in the mayhem of a WW2 bombing on London, the acclaimed Starr Sisters wind up in an air raid shelter turned speakeasy with the 17-piece Regent Street Big Band. While chaos reigns above, there's nothing for it but to make a party out of the situation.
On the spur of the moment, the famous vocal trio take the stage with the band to entertain the rest of the sheltering audience, who are in the same predicament, and a raucous evening of wartime swing ensues.
Be transported: join us to dance, sing, yell out and become part of the melee. This fully costumed and choreographed show brings to life many hits made famous by The Andrews Sisters, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Ella Fitzgerald and more. We'd love you to dress up, too, and become part of the event.
Baltic Bar Mitzvah + The Klezmer Valley Girls @ Django Bar
Join us for a special night of Klezmer Music at Django Bar as part of Vivid Sydney!
Klezmer is a musical tradition of the Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern Europe. Played by professional musicians called klezmorim, the genre originally consisted largely of dance tunes and instrumental display pieces for weddings and other celebrations. In the UsS however it fused with a bit of Southern jazz to give us the sound we know as Klezmer Today.
Come celebrate life with the sound of ‘Baltic Bar Mitzvah’. Largely improvised fusion of European Folk, Tango, Jazz Standards, Originals & Contemporary Grooves. Great music for people to both sit back and listen, or to get up and Dance.
The Klezmer Valley Girls are a group of skilled musicians who have joined forces on a journey through Jewish celebratory music. Featuring two accordions, flute, double bass and banjo, the Klezmer Valley Girls bring together an eclectic array of musical talents and experience in this recently formed band. The Klezmer Valley Girls explore new ways that their unusual combination of instruments can evoke the spirited sounds of vital and exotic klezmer music.
