Event Details

Just like many big dreams, a bonfire begins with a spark. Step up to the glow of Bon(d)fire, share your story, reflection or idea and watch as it becomes part of something bigger and brighter.

This stunning, interactive light installation reimagines the traditional bonfire as a living, evolving artwork. At its heart, a striking 8m tall LED structure is stylised to look like flames. Surrounding it, storytelling stations invite you to share your own tale, memory, or reflection into a microphone.

Your unique contribution is then transformed into a singular set of rhythms and colours, illuminating the bonfire in a flickering display. With every shared story, the bonfire grows more vibrant and dynamic—a powerful symbol of connection, community and the power of collective dreams.

Blending the ancient tradition of gathering around a fire with cutting-edge technology, Bon(d)fire celebrates the diversity, warmth, and collective spirit of Vivid Sydney. Together, let’s be the spark for something bigger and brighter.

A few steps from Bon(d)fire, catch Firetalk every Wednesday from 6.30 to 7pm.

Presented in partnership with Sydney Writers’ Festival, Firetalk is a free storytelling session by the light of the fire bringing together First Nations writers, poets and songwriters and is curated by Wiradjuri poet and artist Jazz Money.
