Discover a city within the city, where shimmering surfaces beckon. Weave your way through a series of building-like forms covered in dichroic film. As light dances across the mirror-finished structures, further investigation reveals enticing scenes and soundscapes within each one’s viewing windows.
This playful installation invites you on a journey through many vignettes of Sydney life. Will you recognise Oxford St, the Northern Beaches, a game of backyard cricket, the late-night allure of Kings Cross…? By day, the mirrored city sparkles in natural light. By night, internal lights and moving LEDs create moving prisms and reflections that dance across the ground and on passers-by.
“The soul of a city is its people… During lockdowns, we spent a long time inside our rooms staring longingly into a world we could not access. By walking through a mirror city, we hope to remind festival-goers of all the amazing things this city has to offer and the idea that every individual plays a unique part in creating this place.” – Light Artist Isabel Hudson
