Event Details

For centuries, libraries have been sanctuaries of reflection—places where people retreat into stories, knowledge and quiet focus. In a world of constant digital distractions, State Library Unplugged invites you to slow down, unplug and rediscover the joy of analogue experiences. For Vivid Sydney, the State Library of New South Wales opens its doors late every Friday night throughout the festival.

A screen-free zone, you’re encouraged to explore, read, draw or simply let your mind wander in the Mitchell Library Reading Room’s historic, calming atmosphere. Step into the heritage galleries, where puzzles, art materials and hands-on activities offer a break from your phone and computer and an invitation to reconnect with tactile creativity.

A retreat from the city’s noise. A return to your own creative potential. Share the joy of contemplation, creativity and discovery in this magical after-hours space.
