As one ‘unprecedented’ disaster after another strikes our communities, we are struggling to see how we can manage this scary ‘new normal’. If we accept that cities can’t protect us from natural disasters, can we make our cities and towns work better with the forces of nature and climate change?
If our city’s competitive advantage is to be its liveability and attractiveness to a highly educated workforce, maybe we need to focus more on health and resilience and less on maximising real estate value. What might this future city be like? And what would it take to create it?
The topical discussion is for anyone interested in Sydney's future planning, or more generally in issues of urban resilience, sustainability and social justice.
Presented by Vivid Ideas in association with University of Technology Sydney.
