Dream Logic: Four Films by Antoinetta Angelidi

Greek filmmaker Antoinetta Angelidi is a pioneer of avant-garde cinema, known for weaving memory, surreal imagery and dream-like sequences into her hypnotic narratives. In keeping with Vivid Sydney 2025’s theme of Dream, this retrospective presents Angelidi’s four feature films across four nights and for the first time in Australia. 

This is cinema as a waking dream, where narrative structures fracture and reassemble, challenging the viewer’s perception of time, space, and self.

The program includes:

• The Hours: A Square Film, Sunday 25 May, 8pm
  Memory as construction, time as a shifting pulse. A film about escape and acceptance.
   
• Topos, Thursday 29 May, 8pm
  A parable of time and transformation, where a filmed dream unfolds across two cycles of life and death.
   
• Idées Fixes / Dies Irae, Sunday 1 June, 8pm
  A meditation on the female form, language, and aesthetic theory, where sound and image play in constant inversion.
   
• Thief or Reality, Thursday 5 June, 8pm
  Three perspectives of a single day, where fate, randomness and free will collide in a darkly optimistic exploration of mortality.
