Aperitivo Hour has been a crowd favourite within the Wine Room at the Dolphin Hotel. For Vivid Sydney 2018, both András and Noise In My Head will be ensuring that you enjoy an array of sonic substances sourced from odd hemispheres.

Both selectors have an acquired taste and share a deep passion for unearthing rare and eccentric non-dance gems. Whether it’s probing through the trenches of discogs or looking at derelict record stores in the countryside of Estonia, these diggers are not just DJs but true music lovers who are willing to search the earths corners for lost and forgotten treasures.

Andras Fox is a musician whose earned acclaim for his unpredictable take on electronica. The ‘90s underground house, soundtrack and ambient music lover loosely uses drum machine rhythms and sloppy soft synthesis; smoothing over nature-machine and industrial-relax oppositions and enjoying all the confusion.

His soundtrack work Overworld marked a significant departure from his previous work, introducing a new alias Art Wilson. The album playfully explores the dance-performance themes of nature and astrology while sticking with familiar low-budget synth and drum machine instrumentation. In addition to his production work, Andras is also co-host of Strange holidays with Instant Peterson, a Melbourne based radio show that focuses on unearthing forbidden fruits.

Noise In My Head is a freeform sonic excursion piloted by Michael Kucyk. From early beginnings as a long-running cult radio show on Melbourne’s 3RRR FM, it has become a vital nexus in the Australian music scene, and now the identity expands as a DJ, two record labels, a publishing entity and party series. The carefully curated program quickly caught the eye of London online institution NTS, who invited Michael to continue his show on their global platform, presenting alongside Andrew Weatherall, Four Tet, Floating Points, Funkineven.

Sister imprint Efficient Space is currently in operation, reissuing backroom house from little known '90s Melbourne Producer Braden Schlager, as well as a compilation of sentimental private press folk-pop and new wave. Midnite Spares: Compiled by András and Instant Peterson is a great example of how these sonic researchers come together in the form of showcasing elegant ecological sounds.
