Bill Callahan returns to Vivid LIVE for a resonant, evocative show that dives deep into his unique take on classic Americana.
Described as his generation’s Leonard Cohen, his underground influence on artists ranging from Hot Chip to Sufjan Stevens and The National is immense, with Laura Marling describing his record Sometimes I Wish I Were an Eagle “as close to a work of genius as I’ve seen of the living. I listen to it at least once a month, and have for the last three years.” His hypnotic, wry, resonant work has been covered by seminal artists including Gil Scott-Heron and Cat Power and gained sincere admiration from the likes of Nick Cave.
Renowned for his rich baritone, Callahan has been a prolific artist over the years releasing 12 highly acclaimed albums under the name Smog, before shedding that to perform under his own name and a further five profound and mesmerising albums over the past decade that have hit career highs. These very special shows will feature a two-piece setup with Bill being joined by long term guitarist Matt Kinsey.
“Supremely magical, wholly mesmerising” – The Sydney Morning Herald
