The Light of Moving Art, part of Vivid KX, is a modernist homage in light to the creative, resilient and vibrant artistic community of Kings Cross. For many decades artists and activists, poets and playwrights, the lost and the lonely, misfits and mystics have been drawn to Kings Cross and have contributed to it unique cultural heritage.
Now one of their own, Iain Reed from 32 Hundred Lighting, who was born in Kings Cross, has designed a striking tribute to this eclectic community by crafting a series of illuminated mobiles in the modernist style. There are four different mobile designs repeated along the length of the installation which stretches along Darlinghurst Rd, between Fitzroy Gardens and the iconic Coca-Cola sign.
The bright colourful forms of the mobiles hover under street lights, each reflecting the fact that humanity, in all its shapes and forms, is embraced by the Cross.
