You have the power to share impactful stories in your very own hands! Join Amnesty International and Digital Storytellers at this two-hour workshop brimming with valuable techniques to ensure effective digital storytelling with the technology we use every day.
The Brexiteers and Donald Trump have gained traction and influence with the use of storytelling that resonates with human fear, self doubt and feelings of isolation. If we want to make positive, enduring change, we must do the same, but with the right stories.
We are thrilled to announce Rodney Dillon, a widely respected, lifelong defender of the rights of Indigenous peoples, as one of our featured speakers! Integral to the success of his efforts is the ability to engage in emotive and compelling storytelling. However, as a Palawa elder, storytelling is far more than merely a tool for success for Rodney. Join us at this event to discuss the importance of storytelling beyond the digital realm, and its role throughout culture and history!
Mikey Leung, social entrepreneur, co-founder and director at purpose-driven film agency Digital Storytellers, will explore how storytelling for social change can move the world towards a better narrative. This workshop will delve into the role that you can play in shaping that narritive by getting in touch with the power of your own story.
The workshop will be divided into two sessions. The first will be hosted by social entrepreneurs and digital production professionals drawing on their experience to discuss the power of storytelling, the second session will take a practical approach to break down the methods used to achieve impactful storytelling in today's competitive digital mediums.
Our hosts will cover all the dos and don'ts for better quality footage, audio, lighting, editing and more so that you can get the most out of filming with your smartphone!
