Hot off the release of her album, “Til My Song Is Done”, Emma Donovan brings her hypnotising blend of reggae, gospel, soul and country to Carriageworks on Saturday 15 June as part of the Vivid Music program.
Emma's versatile and soulful sound will captivate music lovers, as she performs a moving and heartfelt set that celebrates her deep musical roots and family legacy.
An Aboriginal Australian singer-songwriter, Emma regularly performs songs in Gumbaynggirr and Noongar traditional languages, and shares stories that invite her audience into a greater understanding of Country and community.
Emma first appeared on the stage with her renowned family band The Donovans, performing church song renditions with her mother Agnes, her five uncles and maternal grandparents Micko and Aileen. She went on to cement herself as a musical force through her award-winning work with the rhythm combo The Putbacks and the Black Arm Band project.
Emma has toured and recorded with the best in the Australian music scene including Paul Kelly, The Teskey Brothers, Briggs, Dan Sultan, Spinifex Gum and the late Uncle Archie Roach and Aunty Ruby Hunter.
