World Premiere, Sydney Only
One of the most singular and unpredictable voices to break out of the past decade in music, Justin Vernon reignites the Grammy-winning Bon Iver with a Sydney-only appearance to open Vivid LIVE with CERCLE (French for “Circle”), a unique retrospective concert experience in-the-round with the audience.
After a three-show sellout debut in 2012, Vernon was last seen in Vivid LIVE as part of the Alan Lomax Americana celebration, Sounds of the South. Evolving in new projects and collaborations with Kanye West, James Blake, and even starting his own music festival in his hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the 34-year-old songwriter has deflected public demand by keeping Bon Iver appearances rare.
From For Emma, Forever Ago’s cabin intimacy to the lush expanse of its follow-up Bon Iver, Bon Iver, Vernon has stayed true to his ethos of capturing moments of meaning within a state of sonic flux. Keeping his hert-rending falsetto at the centre of his songwriting, Bon Iver has evolved over the years into a tremendous live force - now returning to an old favourite stage for a new type of performance at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid LIVE.
