Event Details

Capturing attention in an electronic world is becoming increasingly difficult. As social change makers we need to challenge peoples apathy and encourage them to take action on the things that matter. Arts activism sheds light on the dark side of humanity and inspire Australians to take action on human rights issues.

With 50+ years experience of research and reporting on human rights violations, Amnesty International is a global leader in communicating confronting issues and calling for change. We are a grassroots movement which trains activists across the country to run engaging events. As such, we are constantly on the lookout for new strategies and creative ways to communicate the issues that we are passionate about.

In an engaging two-hour seminar, Amnesty International Australia's Indigenous Rights campaigner, Roxanne Moore, will discuss creative strategies about how to communicate difficult issues for public action.

One of the biggest human rights challenges for Australia is how we treat our Indigenous peoples. It is one of our longest, most complex and difficult social issues. Roxanne outlines the potential opportunities we have to highlight the creativity and power of Indigenous people, showing the various mediums that are used to communicate their rights, their passions, their abilities.

Amnesty International Australia has a current campaign called Community is Everything, which highlights some of these creative projects and champions Indigenous led community solutions.

This event is presented by Amnesty International Australia.
