Chippendale New World Art Prize: Mekong Banquet

Stanley Quek is an arts philanthropist and benefactor. The former Chairman of Frasers Property Australia and the current Executive Chairman of Greencliff Pty Ltd, he is highly influential in the property development industry.

Stanley has long been a supporter of Chippendale, and in 2007 he purchased Kensington Street with the dream of turning it into a lifestyle destination. 

In 2008, in his capacity as chairman of Frasers Property Australia, he donated The Old Rum Store to the Fraser Artist Residency Program, which operated for four years. Providing free work space and subsidised rehearsal space for local artists and musicians, allowing creativity and collaboration to grow in the Chippendale Precinct.

In 2013, Dr Stanley Quek generously donated a $100,000, 10-year art prize to the Chippendale Creative Precinct. 

Wayne Tunnicliffe is the head curator of Australian Art at the Gallery of NSW and before that, was the curator of the Australian Contemporary Collection at the gallery since 2001.

Tunnicliffe has been responsible for recent exhibitions; Wilderness, Tim Johnson: painting ideas and Adam Cullen: let’s get lost at the Art Gallery of NSW, as well as over 70 Contemporary Project Space exhibitions.

Pat Corrigan is a renowned art collector, businessman and arts philanthropist, collecting sculptures, painting, photographs and Aboriginal artworks for his expansive collection.

He has funded many scholarships for artists and musicians, as well as supporting national and local galleries and museums. His collections have been displayed in regional galleries such as the Penrith regional gallery and the Lewers bequest in Emu Plains. His businesses include Corrigan’s Art Express and Better Read Then Dead, a Newtown bookstore.

His passions include art, philanthropy, sport and music.

Janet Laurence is an internationally renowned Australian artist whose work explores the architectural and the organic in site-specific installations and environmental sculptures.

Her works blend science, imagination and memory becoming a transcending experience.

Janet is exhibited and part of permanent collections both nationally and overseas at locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Paris, London and Germany to name a few. She has received Rockerfeller, Churchill and Australian Council Fellowships as well as other awards.
