Borys Chernyk is the head chef at Kyiv Social. He arrived in Australia with his family in May 2023, having escaped the ongoing crisis in his home country of Ukraine. With over 30 years’ experience in Ukrainian fine dining restaurants, Borys brings his love and knowledge of traditional Ukrainian cuisine to the table at Kyiv Social.

Break bread (pampushka, a fluffy and crispy garlic roll, to be exact), immerse yourself in Ukrainian culture and pay your meal forward two-fold.

A specially curated 10-course degustation offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience the authenticity and abundance of a Ukrainian family table at Kyiv Social. As part of Plate It Forward, a social enterprise dedicated to addressing social inequity through food, Kyiv Social provides employment to Ukrainian refugees.

Head chef Borys Chernyk’s specially curated menu will feature both authentic dishes and reimagined, sentimental classics. Plus, an all-female Ukrainian band will serenade you with traditional music while you’re passing generous plates back and forth.

Through Plate It Forward, this event will contribute 200 meals to Ukrainian individuals in need, both in Sydney and Ukraine.
